You will learn that by 2019 about 2 billion people will be using social media. While many think that only the young use social media, statistics give us a different view. There are many older users too. This indicates that all generations are fond of social media. You will however learn that they will often use different platforms. There is the generation Z which has people who were born as from 1996 to 2015. They actually grew up with technology. This is because one half grew with computers while the latter didn’t. This generation is the largest and has the most influence on social media. You will also learn that they are more likely to use platforms like LinkedIn for their professions.
Consider generation X that has people born between 1965 and 1976. They often use at least one social media platform. You will learn that a third of the user of an age above 50 say it is hard for them to give up social media. They will often share content more than any other group. Of all generations, they have the highest disposable income. This makes them potential customers to individuals who want to have their products sold on social media. This is boosted by their readiness to share.
Finally, we have the baby boomers that were born from 1946 to 1964. They are the fewest across social media platforms. They actually like more content. It is for this reason that they will opt for platforms like Facebook. This is what will make it easier for them to share their opinions with friends. You will hence appreciate that social media is used by all generations.
